Mauro Colagreco is chef of Mirazur, located in Menton, Côte D’Azur. In 2001, as a newly qualified chef, the Italo-Argentinian Mauro headed to France and worked with Bernard Loiseau until his death in 2003. He then worked in Paris with Alain Passard at l’Arpège, Alain Ducasse at the Hotel Plaza Athénée, and finally spent a year at Le Grand Véfour. Mauro established Mirazur in 2006, receiving the Revelation of the Year award (a brand-new category to recognize his merits) from Gault & Millau just six months after opening; his first Michelin star followed soon thereafter. Gault & Millau also awarded Chef of the Year accolades to Mauro in 2009, making him the first non-French chef ever to receive this title. In February 2013, Mauro became part of the select family of Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux, and in 2016, Mirazur was ranked number 80 on Elite Traveler magazine’s Top 100 Restaurants in the World list. Mirazur made its debut on San Pellegrino’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2009, and steadily moved up the list over the years, until finally taking the number one spot in 2019, the same year that the restaurant earned three Michelin stars for the first time.
